Touring Camotes Island 2019

Touring Camotes Island
Camotes Island boasts some of the best Resorts in the country with its cheapest and most affordable prices. I had a great time touring the island for two days. There were only three of us and it was one of the most affordable yet exciting travels to date.
From Pier 1, Cebu City, you can reach the island via Ocean Jet. Travel schedules to Poro Port, Camotes are 6:00 AM and 3:00 PM. You can go early at 4:00 AM to buy your ticket at the ticketing station right outside the Pier 1. Camotes to Cebu schedules are 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM daily.
We took the 6:00 AM trip and reached the Poro Port at 8:10AM.
We went around the island via Tricycle good for 3-5 persons.
Thanks to Frecz +63 912 894 5371. The tricycle rental for the 2-day tour was 2500 pesos. Manong Nelson, the driver, +63 950 620 3614 was the kindest person. He picked us up from Poro Port to the Hotel then toured us around the island... then he sent us back to the Port the next day. It was fun riding the Pink Hello Kitty Tricycle.
There are a lot of cheap places to stay. But it is best to stay in a place where there is enough water for a shower. So we opted to stay in the beautiful Ana Jean Homes. Thanks to Ms. Ana Jean for the warm accommodation. You can contact her at (0928) 285 8568. The hotel room for 3 was great at 1000 pesos only. We arrived at 9:00 AM and checked out at 2:00 PM the next day.
These are some of the beautiful places we visited. Manong Nelson drove us to the places and waited until we were done.
Day 1.
1. Lake Danao (Fee 15 pesos per person)
- ate a Salvaro (10 pesos)
- ZipLine (200 pesos)
- ate lunch at Papa Tasie (100 pesos for lechon meal)
- Parking (10 pesos)
2. Tulang Diot Island
- Ferry to the Island (20 per person) (young kids assisted the boat) Give tip to the kids for they are so cute and skillful.
- Island Fee (10 pesos)
- Swim... swim... swim.
- Rented a Banka (30 pesos)
3. Timubo Cave (Entrance 30 pesos)
- Tip for a kid guide
4. Heaven Cave (Entrance 30 pesos)
- Tip for another kid guide. (the kids are really great tour guides)
- Very nice cave but should have preserved
5. Amazing Cave and Resort (60 pesos)
- This is a decent resort with a cave.
- The cave is really nice.
- Swim the rocky beach
We headed
back to the hotel afterward.
At night, we rented a scooter from a nice guy just outside the hotel room (150 pesos). Scooter rentals cost 500 for 24 hrs. We drove 30 mins to the BAY WALK for dinner (Lots of BBQ for 325 pesos).
Day 2 Swimming Day
Early breakfast at LOLA's kitchenette (200 pesos for 3 persons)
1. Santiago Bay boasts the best WHITE Beach
- ENTRANCE is FREEEEEEEEE!
2. Mangodlong Rock Resort
- This is a very nice resort (Entrance 20 only WOW!)
After wonderful swimming, we headed back to the hotel and prepped to leave the Island. It was a wonderful adventure!

Teaching: An Incessant Journey
Teaching: An Incessant Journey
As I was writing down my thoughts about professional standards of a teacher (which was a work related requirement before the Chinese New Year), I went counting back and found out that this is already my 10th year of teaching. It is such a surprise to see that I have been teaching and learning for a decade already. I have met different students. I have gained different experiences. I have fought different challenges. I have listened to different stories and witnessed surprises. This for me is just a beginning of a journey – a reflection of an incessant journey called teaching.
I still see myself as a teacher for the next decade and decades to come. But up till now, I still want to find out “What makes a good teacher?” If I consider myself a good teacher, then I have to look at my personal qualities that I can boast. Personally, there are two qualities that I have that are beneficial to children- organization and sharing life lessons. The former takes years to learn while the latter takes years to experience. You put these two ingredients together will make learning recipe more meaningful to children.
How then did I learn how to be organized? When, I was a kid, my mom would ask me to fix the clothes in my dresser. I paired socks up before putting them in the socks bag. I do the dishes and followed the basics like removing excess food first or soap the cups then the spoons then the plates. I also bound my old notebooks together by poking a hole using a nail and sewing them with the white yarn. All these things are basic organization experiences that I have gone through. I grew up fixing my bed when I wake up and it became a habit. These are also life lessons that I considered useful as I was growing.
In the lesson, kids should be aware of what they are expected of for the month. With the thematic teaching, kids are aware of the theme lessons they will take up. Walls of the month’s theme are ready for kids to begin learning. My English wall will also be ready. Thematic words and concepts, posters, teaching materials are well decorated in the classroom. Kids will feel the new theme atmosphere when they see changes in the walls. Last year, themes that were taken included My Schoolhouse, Food around the World, My Body, Family and Christmas. I hope that come new term I would consistently make kids aware of the month’s lessons.
Organization also comes in routines. Learning routines are important. Kids should be safe when they know the sequence of activities in the day. The more practice we do with the routines, the more effective classroom activities will be.
Life lessons are learned as several bits of memorable experiences that are puzzled into great pictures turned into flashcards of life. Life lessons can be great stories you can share with kids. In teaching I try to show my real experiences to kids. If I talk about animals, then I show real pictures of my pets, my travels to the zoo and the like. This way when kids listen to the stories, they are more colorable. Then, kids can also share experiences about animals they have seen, touched or cared. Recently, while talking about family, I grab my computer and showed them my family tree which my cousin made. I found kids were interested to see the pictures of my family members. These prompted several queries ranging from the most bizarre to the most serious ones. Some kids asked “Do you have mother?” “Where is your grandpa?” “Is he still alive?” “How many people are there in your family?” “Who’s this and who’s that?” They even asked me to show more pictures of my family. Some gave hilarious comments about facial features and skin colors. Some kids wanted to see special pictures of the babies in the family. Some were quietly listening and watching. Using these pictures learning can become more active and interesting. Kids as people would love to see real people.

Re-watching movies
@ I had a week long rest and it was worth it. My daily routine was to wake up at 11 am, ate anything for brunch, do the laundry, clean the house, watched TV series and movies in the net, played Crazy Eight and Crosswise at www.spogg.com, went to the gym and dance classes, banyamos, re-watched movies again and katorlog. It was the same routine and it was productive.
This is the only holiday where I never got the chance to travel with my colleagues @Rhose and @Jess. We opted to relax at home. (haaaaay nuay lang gale kel cen.)
I watched (re-watched) a lot of series from Degrassi, The Glee Project, Supernatural, Fringe, Glee, RuPaul’s, SYTYCD, etc. Whew! And re-watched X-men, X2, X-men:The Last Stand, X-Men:Wolverine after watching X-Men: First Class.
I enjoyed the Glee Project the most. Damian deserved to win the contest. Samuel also did very well in the tasks. Lindsay was super manipulative and can really act. Alex was very fierce and daring. Luckily, the four gets to be on the show. Damian and Samuel will be in 7 episodes while Alex and Lindsay got 2 episode arcs. But my fave was Hannah. I was saddened she did not make it to the finale. Looking at the aspiring gleeks, they looked very ready to start the new glee cast. I hope all of them get the chance to be on the show. It would be very nice to see new faces and members of glee club.
Classes started this week and I am back to work mode again! ;)
There were also sales in the mall and I got a pair of white sandals from a Horacio Pagani shop. wait... Who is Horacio Pagani? I know Horacio Pagani is a popular car designer. I am just wondering if he is now designing clothes... not sure.

My sunburnt Arms
I have to deal with this sunburnt arms for the next couple of days until it gets dried up and peeled off then new skin cells will appear. I was on a team building seminar with my school colleagues yesterday at HuLuShanZhuang, Huludao, China. It is a training ground were organizations would bring their employees for certain team building activities. I had great time working with my team in several activities like wall climbing (without those safety ropes), crawling on some ropes, climbing on tires, climbing the mountain blindfolded, balancing on several kinds of bridge, bouncing a volleyball on a drum, crossing on a long wired bridge, and etc. After doing all these activities under the heat of the sun, I got this. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! The sunscreen did not work well. I still had a great time. Of course, I enjoyed the camaraderie and team spirit of my colleagues.
Next weekend, I will be with fellow foreign teachers for our Summer Sports Fest. I am expecting for another burn. hmmmm, i have to double up the SPFs!

Fire Cupping Therapy
I was looking at my hard disk files and found these pictures. This was taken after getting a Chinese Fire Cupping Therapy last spring. It is locally called "baguaner" /bagwar/. Several glass cups were heated and placed on my back. These cups then suctioned the skin which is effective in mobilizing blood flow. It looked scary especially when you see the fiery cups. It felt very tight when all the cups are placed at my back. In the end, it felt relaxing and soothing. You get these polka dotted back after the theraphy. They say..."the darker the spots means the unhealthier you are."

Happy Valley Best Ride
I'm rekindling the child in me, after going to several "amusement/ themed" parks lately. I was at Beijing Happy Valley Amusement Park last May. There were many people in that place. The lines to each thrill rides are really long. You have to wait for long hours to get into the ride. I had fun but the long wait was terrible. If you want to enjoy the rides, then go early. I think most rides are fantastic but you don't have enough time to move around because the place is that super big. I went in the afternoon that means the place is jam-packed with many people of different ages. Some even in their wheel chairs are there. Hmmmm... here are the snapshots of my adventure in the place.
I saw the line to this Aztec Roller Coaster and thought of not lining up because the line was toooooooo loooooooooooong. I thought of taking pictures instead.
There are like four themes in the park. This is the Antlantic City... mucho ANTS!
One of the best fun rides I tried was the biggest Aztec Sun Ride in Happy Valley. After lining up for several hours, (obviously, mucho gat hente!) it was worth the wait. Look at those tiny people on that giant swing... haaaaay! I am so excited to ride it at this time but I have to wait!
Time for my ride! Whew! It was by far the best ride ever! I looked so poised because I knew there were cameras around and I have to maintain my composure. The people around me looked so nervous! whew! Em lovin them facial expressions!
They have this not-so-scary-horror-house! It was a boring horror house. I think GLORIA sa Dapitan Horror House would be far better than this.
The 3D IMAX was cool. They showed an animation produced by LEGO Inc.
It was very tiring day. I suggest you bring many food when you go here and you can eat while lining up for your next ride. The prices of food inside the park is really very expensive. In the end, it was still a great experience.
| They also have beautiful slash colorful parades ala Disneyland |

Top 25 of 2010
Good day! Sometimes internet connections can be very weird. I still feel I am deprived from using the internet with its limitless functions... I wonder why I was able to use blogger knowing that it is still banned here in China. Whew... including Youtube too. Good I have few minutes to write this up before the web page would eventually turn blank.
As in Chinese... they would always say KUAI DIAN ER! (Move Quickly!)
At the end of the year.. I had to check on my music to see which songs are on the top 25 list! What's the most played song in your ipod? hehehe
Mine would be Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are! I can listen to this song the whole day!
On the same place is my favorite Glee Track by Kurt (of course, Chris Colfer) Defying Gravity. I would sing this song all over again the whole day! I love how Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth did this great duo from Wicked!
:) I hope I can get to post more... I hope the firewall in China has totally broken! Fingers crossed.

Homeward Bound
It's good to be home.
It was a pretty good travel from Hludao-Beijing-Manila then to Zamboanga. Last Saturday was the school's 7th Graduation Ceremonies. As usual, I was the emcee again. We started a quarter past 9 which was super late in terms of "chinese's time standards." The program was supposed to start at exactly 9, however, the people from the local media was late. Luckily, we managed to finish at 11:15. After my last phrase "...live and grow in the loving world, " I rushed to change my attire and got my packed things which i brought to the WarTai Hotel early that day. I had to run past other kids and parents waiting on the elevator door. I had to move quickly and jump into the taxi to the bus station. Ms. Rose and Ms. Jessie helped me through the rushing. We reached the bus station and I had to line up immediately as the officers checked the tickets.
I reached Beijing and had to rest for the next day's flight. I stayed in Dheck's flat in Bejing. The next day, Dheck and I luckily managed to rent a car to bring us from the flat to the airport. It was a 40 minute ride from ZhongGuanCUn to the Airport. We checked-in at 3 in the afternoon. The checking in was on time but the plane left Beijing 30 minutes past the scheduled time 4:15pm. China Southern Airlines is one good Chinese Airlines but they rarely have delays. It was just a bad day perhaps. On the other side, it was a safe a nice journey. There were a lot of pinoy kids on board the plane. The kids were participants to a mathematics competition sponsored by Mathematics Teachers Guild (MTG). I heard some kids fared in the competition well. I saw some kids with big glass trophies. The airlines had to stop in Xiamen at 7:15pm and flew to Manila after an hour. By the way, one good point: They serve good meals 2 times. We reached Manila at 10 30pm and had to rushed through the long immigration line. Most people lining up were 'balikbayans' like me. It was blisstalgic (bliss+nostalgic) to see how excited their faces are while carrying duty free bags with chocolates and other stuffs.
After the long line, we rode the shuttle bus to Terminal 2/Centennial Airport at 1 am. As soon as I reached there, I saw the infamous bee mascot in red and yellow. waaaaaaaa! Jollibee time! We enjoyed eating spag and chicken after a year of crazing. I waited at the airport for my next flight which is at 4 am. Luckily, I reached the city safe and sound with God's grace and guidance. There was no bombing cases! ouch.. I really feel disheartened to listen to bad news like bombings in the city. I hope these incidents would not happen again.
Whooops, I feel so happy to be back home again. See you around guys.

AI9 top 12 Analogy with some AI Alums
I am going to make some analogy of the AI 9 top 12 to some AI Alums. Now that we have the top12 of the AI Season 9, I would love to look at the previous AI alums which are remarkably somewhat similar to them. Again, I am an AI fan and I will always be.
1. Katie Stevens – Diana DeGarmo
At 16 years old, Diana was the runner up to Fantasia of Season 3. I really loved her very cute personality and enthusiasm on stage. What Katie Stevens need is to have fun and enjoy her performances like Diana did.
2. Crystal Bowersox – Kelly Clarkson
I think like Kelly Clarkson, Crystal is very consistent in her performances. She knows herself as an artist and could make it really good in the future. She needs to continuously believe in herself and perform well and will reach her to the finale.
3. Siobhan Magnus – Katharine McPhee
She has a very good voice like Katherine. I remembered Katherine McPhee when Siobhan sang her Top10 girls song “Think” by Aretha Franklin. The performance was really good especially the last note where she has to belt it so high and was perfect! Just like Katherine, She has vocal perfection. Hehehe! She needs to follow through her style and bring her to the finale.
4. Lacey Brown – Allison Iraheta
One similarity would be her red hair. Hehehehe! Musically, she can be a Carrie Underwood in the making? Hehehe (I just can’t find an Alum that is like her, Amy Adams? Fantasia? Syesha? Vonzell? Or ADAM LAMBERT?)
5. Didi Benami – Kellie Dawn Pickler
Like Kellie, she is gorgeous and sweet. She needs to move more on stage and enjoy every performance. She has got a distinct country voice that will really bring her to the top. I would love to see Didi perform Walkin After Midnight. Magan Corkrey also did a good version of the song. I hope 1950’s theme would be up.
6. Paige Miles – Kimberly Locke
She is pretty like her and got a good voice that could belt high notes. She just needs to be gorgeous like her when she performs.
7. Andrew Garcia – Danny Gokey 2.0
Aside from the glasses, they both have the very good voice. He has a really good talent. He can make it to the top if he could definitely choose his songs well and sing without hesitation. Like Danny Gokey, he can have a lot of growing fans that will support him to the top.
8. Lee Dewyze – David Cook
They both have the scruffs…Just like David Cook, he has the raspy voice that is enviable. He is also good looking that people would love to see him perform. He is one of my faves in the guys so I expect him to be more relaxed and consistent in his performances
9. Michael Lynche – Ruben Studdard
Having the size of Ruben Studdard, Michael is as awesome as the winner of Season 2. He has been very good in his performances. He sings with a heart and knows how to move around on stage. He has got a great falsetto that is really good. I hope this guy would stick around well if he gets the Ruben Studdard love.
10. Aaron Kelly – David Archuleta
Just like Archie, Aaron is young and vibrant. He sings with his passion but looks uncomfy in his performances. He needs to have the Archie factor to step up his game. He just needs to wear a smile always when he performs and look really cute all the time.
11. Tim Urban – Kris Allen
He can sing but seems so confused about him being in the contest. He can do very well if he could be more creative and charismatic in his performances. He needs to choose good songs and make it his own. Kris has the style which Tim could use to win votes.
12. Casey James –Chris Daughtry
With the style of Chris, Casey would make it far in the competition. He has the good looks plus the good voice. I just love his Heaven performance. He definitely do more of the cool performances to bring him to the top.

American Idol Results Top 20
Goodbye to my favorite girls Ashley and Janell... huhuhu! I really wanted them on the top 12. ok
Joe Munoz did very well in his performance but did not win the hearts of American voters. He just got voted off. Tyler Grady, the wannabe-rocker did not make it to the next round. I am not a fan anyway.
:) Whooops.. AI exit song is by British Pop Idol Will Young's "Leave Right Now."

Taiwanese girl kissing 100 men in Paris
It was a web sensation here in China about the Taiwanese girl who is on a quest to kiss 100 men in Paris.
Taiwan woman on quest for kisses(HK Edition)
TAIPEI: A woman from Taiwan, whose ambition is to kiss 100 men in Paris, has become an overnight web sensation after she provided details of the quest on her blog.
Yang Ya-ching, a 27-year-old music major living in the French capital, has so far notched up 54 smooches, she said on her blog, which features photos of some of the encounters.
Collaborators in her project include a factory worker, a model, an Italian tourist and even a soldier visiting the French capital for Bastille Day. Some who are assisting her in her quest are attractive, though others are bald and paunchy.
"I came up with the idea three years ago," she said on her blog.
Her friends didn't like the idea, saying kissing 100 men would be like having sex with 100 men.
"Three of my four friends who were aware of the plan warned me that I might wind up getting slapped rather than kissed."
But after spending two years in Paris, Yang said the idea kept nagging at her. This time she put it into action. "I have the courage and ability to do what I want," Yang wrote in her blog.
The first kiss happened near a museum on July 14. The collaborator is a worker and the kiss was like "a leaf falling into my pocket by accident," she wrote.
Some of kisses hold the potential to develop into romance: Yang had been invited to visit a French man teaching in Africa.
Yang, who plans to write a book about her kissing experiences, has attracted 1.97 million visitors to her blog, including more than 224,000 yesterday alone.
Supporters hailed Yang for her courage to take up a challenge while detractors accused her of "worshipping everything foreign" and warned about the hygiene issue.
"Aren't you afraid of catching a disease?" one of her followers asked.
"No," she replied. "The more you're afraid of, the less you accomplish."

My American Idol Season 9 TOP 12 Forecast
I am again putting my clairvoyance power to audaciously forecast my American Idol 9 TOP 12. I am enjoying AI once again. I don’t really get to practice my right of suffrage to save a contestant but for the sake of being an AI fan, I am stupid enough to name my favorites for this season.
Top 6 GUYS
1. Andrew Garcia – Everybody loves him. This genius has the voice that is Danny Gokeyish on the highest level. He is the cannon fodder of this season which will reach him all the way to the top 2 of this season. He is a cannon fodder. I also like him because of his being an honorary Filipino and being friends with my fave youtubers like dustin domingo and aj Rafael.
2. Jermaine Sellers- I prefer him over Todrick Hall. Jermaine is a black male diva. We will surely like to see his performances in the future. Todrick’s plight in AI is a total chaos.
3. Aaron Kelly – Amongst the young contenders I think he would most likely be in the top 12 because he is cute and likeable. He needs to smile more often on and off cam to gain more support.
4. John Park – We need an Asian to make it to the top 12. He looks awesome on stage. I think he has good fan base.
5. Casey James – What would Kara feel without him in the top 12? I think he would better be on the top 12 compared to Tim Urban.
6. I am thinking of the last place... Would I want a LATINO Joe or a guy with a GUITAR Lee on the top 12? Let me think… Ok... LEE DEWYZE. He can be the dark horse for this season.
Top 6 GIRLS
1. Katie Stevens – Hands down she is my favorite among the girls. I would want to see an Andrew vs. Katie finale. I hope it would be possible. She needs to make sure her performances would be very good. Unlike AI S8 Arriana failed to make it to the top 12 after singing Abba song even though she was an early favorite.
2. Crystal Bowersox – She is superb in her performances. She is a naturally born musically intelligent person. She deserves to be in the top 12.
3. A beautiful white girl should make it. I prefer Janell Wheeler over Didi Benami because she is prettier. Hehehe
4. We also need a black female contestant. Amongst the black female contestant Haeley Vaughn is a stand out. Being very country with a package, she is a sure shoo-in the top 12. Michelle and Paige Miles are not that exciting,
5. Ashley Rodriguez- She will be in top 12 because of her being star material. She has a latin family name that means different audience in.
6. Having many good female contestants, I find it so difficult to choose the last spot. Whew will it be Siobhan, Lilly or Lacey? I think Siobhan would be very cool. I want to see her belting out high notes in the top12.
What is your prediction?

My eaglet, my friend
To set free...
Last winter, I had to take care of this eaglet. I found her flying through our apartment and bumped into the glass window and fell off the ground. I hurriedly got the eagle and see if it was still alive. I checked its legs and it was wounded. I nursed the eagle for a month until the wound on its legs were cured.
When it was ready to fly again, I happily set the eaglet free. How I wished it would return to see me again. ;) I miss my eaglet, my friend.
;) Did you ever find an animal? What did you do then?

One fact about me is my love for shoes. :) They are my companions wherever I go. They carry me to places I have never been before. They are with me in travels, walks and turnings in life. They protect my feet from dangers. They may get dirty, old and worn out. They may also be washed, cleansed and fixed. Once they are totally broken, they are thrown and replaced with new ones. However, their memories with me stays a lifetime.
"Ro" is one of my nicknames.

Vday blast!
I had a blast with fellow Pinoys in the city. We had so much fun at the KTV last Valentines Day. Although we don’t have dates but we still managed to have a group date and enjoy the company of each other. The night was filled with so much laughter and dance. We also enjoyed playing Uno, enjoying card games and drinking.
Thank goodness that it is holiday this week. So I get to sleep whenever I like. Sleep, sleep and more sleep. I also enjoy watching movies in the morning. I just love holidays.
Wait! I really have nothing new to say. I had a great day today. I ate Tacos for breakfast courtesy of my very good friend Dheck. In the afternoon, I went shopping with Rose and Jessie. Every Chinese New Year, everything is on sale. Thus, it is time for shopping! We bought Casio and Rarone watches at a good price. I also bought watches for my mom, dad and myself. I spent like 1500 Yuan for the watches. I also bought a new black bag. I like its style because you can wear hand carry or as a messenger bag. It is also big enough to put a lot of trash inside. It comes with a very cool design. After 4 years of stay in China, it was my first time to buy a peeler and hair brush. I bought the peeler because last weeks, as I was preparing the dinner, I could not find the old peeler at home. I got really irked looking for it because I don’t really know how to peel vegetables well - potatoes to be exact. I also needed a hair brush because I would love to make my hair long and see how it would look on me. Oh, I also bought a washable silicon cover for my lappy toppy.
Have a great week!
