Sheron Dayoc's "Halaw" is a finalist in Cinemalaya 2010 Indie Film Fest

"CINEMALAYA 2010 FULL-LENGTH FINALISTS NAMED"






"The Cinemalaya Foundation has named the ten finalists in the full-length feature category of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition 2010 from a field of 150 entries.



The finalists in the full length feature category are: Halaw by Sheron Dayoc, Limbunan by Gutierrez Mangansakan II, Mayohan by Dan Villegas and Paul Sta. Ana, Magkakapatid by Kim Homer C. Garcia, Rekrut by Danny Anonuevo, Sampaguita by Francis Xavier Pasion, Sheika by Arnel Mardoquio, Si Techie, Si Teknoboy at si JuanaB by Art Katipunan, Siya ang Mayor Ko (Vox Populi) by Dennis N. Marasigan and The Leaving by Ian-Dean S. Lorenos.



The finalists will receive an initial seed investment of P500,000 from Cinemalaya Foundation as a production grant.



Cinemalaya has two major competition categories, namely the Full Length Feature category and the Short Feature category. The 2010 Cinemalaya will be held on July 9 to 18, 2010 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Awards for all categories will be given on July 18, 2010 at the CCP. The Best Full Length Feature film will receive a prize of P200,000 and the Balanghai Trophy. The Best Short Feature film will receive a prize of P100,000 and a Balanghai Trophy.



A new Open category is being introduced this year which is open to Filipino filmmakers who have directed at least three full-length feature films which have been released commercially



Now on its sixth year, the Cinemalaya Competition and Festival is a project of the Cinemalaya Foundation, CCP, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines. It is an all-digital film festival and competition that aims to discover, encourage and honor the cinematic works of Filipino filmmakers that boldly articulate and freely interpret the Filipino experience with fresh insight and artistic integrity."

I am really fond of indie films. I have watched alot of independent films to date. My favorites are Ploning, Serbis and Ang Lihim ni Antonio. :) Hope to see these videos soon! ;)

korek.. i think need ele artista... available kita! hehehe.. yeah si sheron dayoc nga kel. I heard a group of zamboanga directors formed an organization headed by councilor Gerky Velasco. :)
